A native iOS/Android companion app for parents that turns existing teacher-facing data into a parent-friendly home surface

Parents whose kids use the platform daily have almost no visibility into what was read, what concepts surfaced, or how to support comprehension at home. The result — parents see EdTech subscriptions as a line item rather than a household tool. Districts buying enterprise licenses ask "what's the family lift?" and the platform doesn't have a good answer.
The challenge
CloudDocs had a vision for a next-generation document management platform for SMEs but no technical team. They needed a product that could launch as an MVP within 3 months, handle multi-tenant data isolation, integrate with popular cloud storage providers, and scale horizontally as users grew — all while keeping infrastructure costs manageable for a startup.
Our solution
We designed a multi-tenant architecture using PostgreSQL row-level security for data isolation, built the frontend with Next.js for SEO and performance, and implemented the backend with Node.js microservices. Stripe was integrated for subscription billing with usage-based pricing tiers. We set up infrastructure on AWS with auto-scaling groups, CDN caching, and automated backups. The MVP launched in 10 weeks.
The results
The MVP launched on schedule and acquired its first 100 paying customers within 6 weeks. By month 8, the platform had 10,000+ paying users with 99.95% uptime. The architecture scaled smoothly without requiring re-engineering. CloudDocs subsequently raised a €2M seed round, with investors citing the technical foundation as a key differentiator.
“We were initially skeptical about implementing an AI chatbot for BRD. However, UP2DATE impressed us with their approach: they analyzed over 50,000 real customer conversations to understand frequent inquiries. The result? An assistant that answers correctly in 85% of cases, knows when to escalate to a human operator, and is available 24/7. Customers no longer wait 20 minutes for simple questions. It speaks natural Romanian, not robotic.”
